A nice and quiet hostel, cosy with all the facilities you need, in the center of Budapest - walking distance to all the bars, restaurants, center & the river. The staff were nice and helpful, the beds and rooms clean and quiet (we were expecting many stag do's, but not in this hostel, it was more for couples and single travellers).
Made some amazing friends here. It made my Budapest one of favourite cities in Europe. Zoltan was a very good host, extremely likeable and talkitive. The hostel is like it is advertised, homly. I felt quite at home and the location is amazing with metro stations and the ruins being so close to the hostel.
It's a light airy hostel I the middle of Budapest. The staff was very friendly. The kitchen was well-stocked, but I wish they would do a better job of keeping it neat. My bed cover smelled like it needed to be washed, so I just didn't use it.
Nice hostel with good location, nightlife is nearby and not too far from metro. Small hostel and only two bathrooms for everyone, but this didn't cause too much hassle. Good wifi connection and helpful staff. Large communal kitchen with washing machine was very useful.
Friendly and clean with spacious rooms. All the people on reception were really helpful, and always around. Big kitchen and lounge. Really centrally located, which made being able to use the hostel's facilities after check-out particularly helpful.
Loved the single beds and very homey atmosphere. This is not a party hostel however it's such a nice small size that I made friends in the hostel instantly because it felt like we were hanging out at someone's apartment. Amazing location too. Bathroom facilities are a bit limited though. I'd recommend this hostel to anyone attempting to avoid rowdy 18 year olds but still wanting to be social.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived here very last minute at about 8pm and in need of a room. The guy on reception was really helpful and we were able to find a bed. When chilling in the communal area, a lady who worked there was baking cookies and was kind enough to give us one. We were in an apartment with some other people in our situation. It was really nice with nice facilities and balconies. It was be suitable for groups of friends or even a family. Only annoying thing was that the wifi didn't reach the room.
Liked: This place was awesome. First I had a bit of doubt because the locality it is in, is a bit old and the apartment looked a bit old too. But when I entered this place, I was greeted by a really friendly receptionist, who was very helpful and friendly. And everything in the hostel was perfect. The toilets were luxurious, clean and tidy. The rooms were perfect. A perfect Hostel I would say. Ahh not to forget, there is an American receptionist also in this place, who was super duper nice. Sorry for forgetting the names !!!!
Disliked: It was a bit too long walk from the station, even though its in the main street just in front of the station. It was a bit of walking, esp with heavy bags. But thats not a big problem, you can take a bus too to this place and the station is just below this apartment/hostel
A hostel situated in a really old building with an old school lift. It was located not far away from a metro (Astoria) and also within walking distance to some really cool bars.
But it wasn't the most economical price-wise, as I met other travellers staying at hostels 10 euros cheaper (This was nearing the Sziget Festival, so the price went up quite a lot from their normal rate)!
Saying that, the staff were friendly and helpful and the house has fully equipped kitchen and a lounge to chill. There were only 2 bathrooms (with toilets) which was a bit of a hassle when there was a queue and you wanted a wee in the middle of the night. I was in the 8 beds mixed dorm, my bed was by the window (indeed it can be a little noisy as it was by the main road). The beds/sheets were alright, though changed upon every check out looked a bit worn out; there were lockers provided under the beds.
There wasn't any breakfast included which other reviewers have mentioned but there were free rental of towels, computers with printing available. The 24/7 reception was a plus especially when Budapest is such a party city.
Liked: Fantastic atmosphere, helpful staff, always clean and the rooms were spacious and actually quite beautiful in their way. The paintings on the walls really gave it character. Others complained about the small number of bathrooms but we never found it a particular annoyance, the fact that they both feed onto the common area meant that it was easy to sit on a sofa and wait during the couple of occasions it was necessary also.
Disliked: Confusion over breakfast. On the Hostelbookers page it said that it was available if paid for, on their own website it said it was all inclusive but when we arrived it wasn't available at all which was disappointing.
